Rising up the ranks of the 2018 class is CenTex Lockdown and Lake Travis small forward Luke Hamilton, whose play this summer has earned him scholarship offers and interest from a variety of schools.
Hamilton currently holds offers from Abilene Christian, Dallas Baptist, New Hampshire and Mercer, and has been receiving heavy interest from Sam Houston State, Texas State, UMass Lowell, Albany and Rice.
This summer, Hamilton has been spending his time during the week at Lake Travis High School’s gym.
“I go to open gym, and usually the lights are off so I have to use the light from the windows,” he said. “I’ll do that during the weekdays for about an hour and a half, two hours.”
At the gym, Hamilton said he’s been focusing on improving his ball handling skills, shooting, quickness and vertical. He also has been prepping for the next level of basketball by lifting weights three times a week.
Hamilton most recently led CenTex Lockdown, coached by Derek Dion, to a championship at the Great American Shootout in Round Rock. The team, which also features standout combo guard Dayante McClellan, have been performing at a high level all summer long.
“It’s been great,” Hamilton said. “We play so well together. We all pass the ball and play tough defense. We compete, we just get after it.”
After going on several visits in the last two months, Hamilton and the rest of CenTex Lockdown are gearing up for what should be an electrifying competition at the GASO in Duncanville this weekend.
