Billy Kennedy and his coaching staff have done an excellent job attracting the top in-state talent to Texas A&M, but the team’s latest target comes from ACC country.
DeShawn Corprew, a 2016 wing from Quality Education Academy in Winston Salem, NC, picked up his 12th offer Thursday from Texas A&M. The Aggies join the Longhorns as the only schools in Texas to offer Corprew.
Last July, Corprew listed a top-5 that included Florida State, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Texas. Months later, that list has undoubtedly evolved as more big-name programs have joined his list of suitors. Louisville and Nebraska have sent scholarship offers his way in January, following a Big 12 offer from Kansas State in December.
The 6’5 senior is the only 3 Texas A&M has offered in the class of 2016. D.J. Hogg is the Aggies’ small forward of the future and will likely eat up most of the minutes available at that position for the next couple of years, but a little depth with a lot of talent goes a long way.
Corprew is an excellent shooter from long range and blows by defenders with his raw speed and athleticism. He would be a huge add if the Aggies could finesse their way into a commitment over the expanding competition for the elite prospect.
