The state’s No. 11 overall player in the class of 2015 is doubtful to lace up his shoes for the Ohio State Buckeyes this season because of potential NCAA infractions involving his AAU team, the Texas Titans.
A source close to the situation told Texas Top 100 the NCAA has questions on Mitchell’s move from Orlando to Dallas in 2010. The source mentioned the Texas Titans’ involvement with Mitchell’s move as the NCAA’s concern, and that it was unlikely Mitchell will play this season for Ohio State.
The 6’7 point forward was one of the top floor generals in the state from the class of 2015 and brought a versatile skill set to Columbus. His passing combined with Austin Grandstaff’s deadly shooting ability were a recipe for a successful future on an Ohio State team still searching for an identity.
Buckeyes coach Thad Matta is hosting a press conference tomorrow, which will hopefully enlighten everyone with more details on the situation and inform the Ohio State faithful on how the team will move forward from here.
